Rococo Gold-Leaf Velvet Bed

The Rococo Gold-Leaf Velvet Bed is conceived as a monumental
architectural sanctuary, calibrated for ultra-luxury residences where atmospheric salinity and humidity threaten traditional gilded joinery.

Designed for Coastal Villas, Private Islands, and Mediterranean Estates.

  • Dimensions: Super King / Emperor (Custom headboard height).
  • Materiality: [Dusty Rose Velvet & 24K Gold Leaf] on Stabilised Frame.
  • Engineering Focus: Neutralisation of Hygroscopic Swell.
  • Production: Made-to-order (45–60 days).

* Artisanal Bespoke · Custom dimensions, materials & finishes available.

Material Behaviour: The Gilded Tension

This imperial sleeping platform relies on a symbiotic relationship between the rigid, hand-carved chassis and the soft, tensioned upholstery.
The finishing utilizes authentic 24K Gold Leaf, applied via the water-gilding method for maximum brilliance.
However, gold leaf acts as a non-elastic skin. It possesses zero tolerance for substrate movement; if the underlying wood breathes, the finish fractures,
destroying the illusion of solid bullion.

The Coastal Humidity Risk

In Coastal Villa specifications, the air carries a high saline moisture content.
Standard timber frames act as sponges, absorbing this humidity and undergoing Hygroscopic Swell.
This expansion creates a shear force between the wood and the gold leaf, leading to “spiderweb” cracking and eventual flaking.
Furthermore, unchecked moisture uptake can compromise the internal tension of the deep-button tufting, causing the
upholstery geometry to sag over time.

Specification Logic: OE-Balance™

To permit the use of museum-grade gilding by the sea, we integrate the OE-Balance™ Moisture-Neutral System.
This involves vacuum-impregnating the raw carved frame with a hydrophobic resin prior to the application of bole and gesso.
This barrier effectively “fossilizes” the wood’s moisture content at a manufacturing standard of 8-10%, rendering the
gilded architectural frame inert to external humidity spikes. The gold remains pristine, and the tufting anchors hold fast.

Dusty Rose & Rococo Semiotics

The upholstery is executed in a heavy-weight Dusty Rose Velvet, chosen for its light-absorbing properties which
contrast the high reflectivity of the gold. The headboard crest features an elaborate, open-work shell motif (coquillage),
a signature of the High Rococo style.
The matching bench repeats this curvilinear language, creating a unified visual cadence within the master suite.

Bespoke Manufacturing (OEM / ODM)

OE-FASHION operates as a specialized atelier for interior designers.
We offer full customization of the upholstery fabric—designers may supply their own COM (Customer Own Material)
silk or velvet to match window treatments. We also provide CAD drawings to verify the scale of the headboard against
ceiling heights. Begin your commission via our bespoke furniture specification process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can the gold leaf withstand sea air?
A: Yes. We apply a final marine-grade archival varnish to seal the metallic leaf against oxidation.

Q: Is the tufting done by hand?
A: Exclusively. Each diamond point is hand-tied to ensure uniform tension and longevity.

Technical Note: For projects located directly on the waterfront, we recommend a bi-annual inspection of the
clear coat to ensure the saline barrier remains intact.
