Material Behaviour: The Span Factor
This imperial daybed system is defined by its elongated, unsupported span.
While the Crimson Velvet upholstery provides visual weight, the underlying frame must resist gravity over decades.
In traditional solid wood construction, horizontal rails of this length are prone to Substrate Creep—a slow, permanent deformation
caused by constant loading. Even a 2mm sag in the rail would fracture the brittle 24K Gold Leaf overlay,
ruining the continuous metallic line.
The Heritage Context Risk
In Heritage Palace settings, furniture is often placed on uneven historic floors, exacerbating torsional stress on long frames.
Standard joinery relies on the stiffness of the timber alone, which naturally relaxes over time (rheological drift).
This relaxation compromises the tension of the deep-button tufting, causing the velvet to pool and loose its
architectural definition.
Specification Logic: OE-Core™
To eliminate this risk, the main longitudinal rails are constructed using the OE-Core™ Cross-Laminated Substrate.
This composite engineering technique layers timber grain at opposing 90-degree angles, creating a beam structure with the
rigidity of steel but the workability of wood. This ensures that the gilded chaise platform maintains absolute
linear deflection limits (L/500), preserving both the gold finish and the upholstery geometry for generations.
Visual Semiotics & Upholstery
The silhouette draws from the exoticism of the 19th-century “Orientalist” movement, merged with high Rococo carving.
The tufting is executed with high-density memory foam to ensure the “peaks and valleys” of the velvet catch the light
dramatically. Ideally specified for window bays in grand salons, the piece acts as a sculptural bridge between
interior opulence and the exterior view. Architects can refine the detailing via our
bespoke furniture specification process.
Bespoke Manufacturing (OEM / ODM)
OE-FASHION provides full OEM services for high-concept luxury seating.
We can reverse the orientation of the armrest (Left or Right configuration) to suit specific room layouts.
Additionally, we offer a range of velvet piles, from crush-resistant mohair to silk-blends, ensuring the
tactile experience matches the visual grandeur.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the velvet resistant to fading?
A: We use UV-stable dyes, but for direct sunlight exposure (e.g., palace windows), we recommend a UV-barrier interliner.
Q: What is the maximum load capacity?
A: Thanks to the OE-Core™ structure, the unit is rated for 350kg static load without deflection.
Technical Note: The gold leaf is hand-applied. Minor variations in the lap lines are a hallmark of authentic
water-gilding and should not be mistaken for defects.
