Engineering Logic
This system is engineered as contract-grade furniture.
It addresses Thermal Expansion Shear typically observed in Urban Penthouse environments equipped with underfloor heating.
The differential movement between the inert stone top and the reactive wooden chassis can cause catastrophic failure at the connection points during thermal cycling.
We resolve this by integrating Elastomeric Expansion Joints between the apron and the slab, creating a “floating” interface.
This methodology aligns with the internal stability criteria established for high-value mixed-material assemblies.
Neoclassical Typology – Aesthetic Structure
Designed as a controlled study of proportion and material behaviour,
the Neoclassical Gilded Console maintains architectural discipline.
The structure rests on tapered, fluted legs that channel the static load to the floor plate, connected by a curvelinear stretcher base centered by a turned finial urn.
The apron features a central cartouche with a lattice-relief pattern, finished in a Gilding Finish System that highlights the carving depth without obscuring the wood grain texture.
Architects may define specific stone veining and gilding tones through our
bespoke specification process.
Project-Specific Interpretation
In a hypothetical commission for an Urban Penthouse, the system was adapted to withstand
the specific challenge of Thermal Expansion Shear.
Direct exposure to radiant heat sources often causes standard joinery to dry out and shrink, while the stone top retains heat.
The integration of Elastomeric Expansion Joints ensured long-term stability
without reliance on site correction, preventing the stone from cracking due to chassis constriction.
Construction & Material Behaviour
The selected Stone & Wood Assembly is bonded via a mechanical interface that allows for independent micro-movement.
- Joinery: Mortise-and-tenon construction reinforced with corner blocks.
- Finish: Multi-stage lacquer with hand-applied gilding, sealed for oxidation resistance.
- Load Behaviour: Calibrated to support heavy floral arrangements or sculpture without stretcher deflection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this a specific stock product?
A: No. This is an engineering specification for manufacturing bespoke furniture tailored to project requirements.
Q: Is this suitable for environments with underfloor heating?
A: Yes. The Elastomeric Expansion Joint system is specifically calibrated to handle the thermal gradients common in modern penthouses.
Q: Can the stone top be changed?
A: Yes. We can source various marbles, granites, or onyx slabs based on the architect’s material schedule.
