The Penthouse Corner Problem
In Urban Penthouse specifications, corners often become “thermal traps.”
When underfloor radiant heating is present, heat accumulates in these dead-air zones, creating a vertical thermal chimney
behind cabinetry. This localized temperature spike attacks the base of standard furniture, causing the
delicate marquetry glues to crystallize and fail—a phenomenon known as Radiant Heat Delamination.
Technical Intervention: The Thermal-Break
To resolve this structural risk, this bespoke display system is fitted with an integrated
Thermal-Break Barrier Layer in the plinth and rear assembly.
This aerospace-grade decoupling material dissipates rising heat away from the wood core, ensuring that the
complex veneer work remains stable
regardless of the floor surface temperature. The cabinet effectively “floats” thermodynamically, separate from the building’s mechanical systems.
Walnut & Satinwood – Curvilinear Logic
The lower door panel features a floral inlay of Satinwood set into Canaletto Walnut.
Because the door is curved, the tension on the veneer is already high; the thermal stabilization is critical to prevent the
inlay from popping. The upper section utilizes bent glass, framed by hand-carved acanthus leaves finished in antique gold,
aligning with the visual language of classical Italian joinery.
