Engineering Logic
This system is engineered as contract-grade furniture.
It addresses the critical failure mode of Joint Fatigue often observed in mixed-media furniture.
The combination of a heavy, carved timber crest and a sprung seat base creates opposing forces during use, leading to “frame racking” (lateral loosening).
We resolve this by integrating the OE-Lock™ Multi-Axis Joinery System, which utilises concealed steel corner braces to triangulate the chassis stress points.
This ensures the frame adheres to our strictly defined structural protocols regarding long-term static load distribution.
Rococo-Style Typology – Aesthetic Structure
Designed as a study in textural contrast, the Rococo-Style Leather & Jacquard Sofa utilizes a “Dual-Skin” upholstery logic.
The structural exoskeleton—arms, apron, and side panels—is upholstered in high-tensile metallic leather with button-tufting to enforce rigidity.
The “contact zones”—seat and back cushions—feature a softer floral jacquard to provide breathable comfort.
This assembly is framed by a Gilding Finish System applied to the exposed acanthus carvings, creating a visual hierarchy suitable for grand interiors.
Architects may define specific leather grades and fabric patterns through our
bespoke specification process.
Project-Specific Interpretation
In a hypothetical commission for a Diplomatic Residence, the system was adapted to withstand
the specific challenge of Joint Fatigue.
The client required seating that could accommodate dignitaries of varying weights without the frame flexing or creaking.
The integration of the OE-Lock™ Multi-Axis Joinery System ensured that the heavy rolled arms remained perfectly orthogonal to the backrest, maintaining the sofa’s stately silhouette over decades of official use.
Construction & Material Behaviour
The selected Mixed-Media Assembly is bonded to a core engineered
specifically for commercial stability.
- Joinery: Double-doweled kiln-dried hardwood reinforced with steel OE-Lock™ plates.
- Finish: Abrasion-resistant clear coat over gold leaf to prevent metallic transfer to formal wear.
- Suspension: Eight-way hand-tied coil springs (or contract equivalent) for uniform seat deck support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can the leather be replaced with fabric?
A: Yes. While the “Dual-Skin” aesthetic is standard for this typology, we can execute the frame in a single textile (COM) upon request.
Q: Is the gold carving durable?
A: Yes. We use a barrier lacquer system that protects the gilding from oxidation and impact, suitable for high-traffic reception areas.
Q: Can the sofa be sized to specific niche dimensions?
A: Yes. The chassis is modular, allowing us to adjust the overall length while preserving the proportional integrity of the carvings.
