Neoclassical Hand-Painted Curio Cabinet

The Neoclassical Hand-Painted Curio Cabinet is executed as a
hermetic preservation vessel, designed to safeguard delicate porcelain collections while maintaining structural inertia in environments subject to severe thermal variances.

Designed for Alpine Chalets, Mountain Estates, and climates with aggressive heating cycles.

  • Dimensions: 230cm H x 190cm W (Customizable).
  • Materiality: [Cream Lacquer & Polychrome Florals] on Structural Core.
  • Engineering Focus: Neutralisation of Hygroscopic Swell.
  • Production: Made-to-order (50–65 days).

* Artisanal Bespoke · Custom dimensions, materials & finishes available.

Engineering Logic: The Bombé Stress Factor

The lower section of this unit features a complex Bombé (multi-axial curve) geometry.
In Alpine Chalet environments, the fluctuation between freezing external temperatures and intense internal heating creates aggressive humidity cycles.
Standard solid wood expands and contracts rapidly under these conditions (Hygroscopic Swell).
This movement inevitably causes the rigid lacquer finish to fracture at the apex of the curves.
To prevent this, the chassis is formed from the OE-Core™ Cross-Laminated Substrate, a composite material that remains dimensionally inert,
ensuring the hand-painted artwork remains a continuous, unblemished skin.

Cream Lacquer & Floral Artistry

The visual narrative relies on a romanticized interpretation of Louis XV ornamentation.
The primary surface is finished in a multi-layer Cream Lacquer, which serves as a canvas for the
Polychrome Floral Artistry. These floral motifs are not decals; they are hand-painted by master artisans using oil-based pigments,
then sealed under a clear gloss. The upper display section is framed by an arched pediment with pierced carving,
adding verticality to grand residential interiors.

Project-Specific Interpretation

In a recent commission for a Swiss Mountain Estate, the client required a display system for antique Meissen porcelain.
The engineered stability core was critical not just for the wood, but for the glazing.
If the frame were to warp even 2mm due to the mountain climate, the tension would shatter the curved glass doors.
Our system ensured zero deflection, protecting both the cabinet and its contents.

Construction & Finish Resilience

The application of the lacquer system involves a 14-day curing process to allow for maximum elasticity.

  • Glazing: 6mm Tempered Glass with bevelled edges.
  • Back Panel: Antiqued mirror or fabric-lined options available.
  • Hardware: Lost-wax cast bronze handles with gold plating.

Bespoke Manufacturing (OEM / ODM)

OE-FASHION allows interior architects to harmonize this piece with the room’s soft furnishings.
We can adjust the palette of the hand-painted florals to match specific curtain fabrics or wallpapers.
Designers are encouraged to utilize our bespoke furniture specification process
to request custom color strikes (lab dips) before production begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the paint fade in sunlight?
A: We use UV-stable archival pigments and a UV-blocking topcoat to preserve color fidelity.

Q: Can the shelves hold heavy crystal?
A: Yes. The glass shelves are 8mm thick and supported by reinforced brass pins, rated for 15kg per shelf.

Technical Note: The curved glass doors are custom-moulded. Replacements require the original CAD templates,
which are archived with every bespoke order serial number.
